I found 204 Rosewood Lane to be an improvement from the first book in this series, "16 Lighthouse Road." The characters seemed more realistic and there was more emotion as readers have come to expect from Mrs. Macomber's books. The plot thickened and became more interesting and I was impressed with certain aspects of the writing. During the first book I was hoping it would get better the entire time I was reading it, and during the course of this book, I felt it did.Although there seem to be certain commonalities with most Debbie Macomber books, I was glad that she strayed from the normal formula for some of the characters in this book. I am always more intrigued by the characters that seem like they may have a secret or a darker side than the ones that are all just sugar and pie from the very beginning. Over all I liked this book. It wasn't the best title I have ever read by this author, but it was an improvement to the series and made me curious about what comes next.

I've wanted to read a book by this author for quite some time, there are always glowing reviews and the covers are so inviting. Since this was such a reasonable price I jumped at the opportunity.The plot was okay if one wants to read about pregnancies ( most unwed ), divorce, bickering unhappy couples. I did not. There were several main relationship plots running throughout the book, and also possible murder/death mystery. Only one of the relationships were resolved. Which leaves a lot of loose ends, including the unsolved death.Who ends a book that way?!Furthermore it's just not written well.Played well on Text-To-Speech

So many stories all at once and all sad.I do know that into each life some sadness must fall.This story focuses on Families falling apart, Couples breaking up, Misunderstandings,Past failures that effect them forever. the most cheerful thing is the discovery of a suicide after a year of being missing.Vietnam Vet that never got the help he needed in dealing with killing a mother and child and then the village they lived in.Returned home to live in 'darkness' that hurt his family till he just disappeared one day., within just a few months his wife filed for and received a divorce.Even new grand children or successful cancer treatments did not cheer this group up Of course the Babies were preemies and the rush to the hospital took him over 2 hours. maybe he stopped to see his ex on the way.I have enjoyed her novels before but will not continue this series. OF course not a one of the many different families tales was finished in this part of the series... must get the next for that, or maybe not even then. . . .

204 Rosewood Lane....I discovered too late that this book was just one in a series of stories about this town and the certain chosen families in it. D. Macomber has a good way of making up characters and placing them together in unique situations. I like that. Her writing is good. But you know what....I like for a good finish that settles things in the stories told about these people. The ending of this book left the reader hanging. Maybe that is the ploy to get the reader to go immediately and buy the next book to keep up with things. But for me, even if it is a series, the reader deserves to be satisfied with conclusions of one type or another. It is unsettling to see there are no more pages and the reader is left wondering what just happened. I'm cut off. If you write a book...finish it enough to be like the end of a good meal, full and satisfied. Don't think I'll get the next book...it may end the same way, with things left up in the air. I loved the closeness of the families in Cedar Cove. The way Debbie Macomber connected their stories, and brought the characters to life is a true gift. I did not like the way the story ended because there were loose ends. I believe the loose ends were on purpose to get us involved with the people of Cedar Cove and read on...

3.5 Stars, cliff-hanger. Stand-alone that is easy to follow. Unfortunately there are several relationships dangling and unanswered questions.Believable characters and dialogue.No desire to re-read this story. I am always interested in works by this author.

This story has wonderful characters, all with different stories. Each situation is unique, but the characters and their stories blend nicely together, making for a wonderful small town feeling. I'm hoping there is another book following this one, however; since quite a few of the character's stories are left without closure. It left me wondering what happened in the end between Jon and Maryellen. And what of the guy who turned up at the bed and breakfast? I just wanted more, so hopefully there is a following book.

I love her books! I've read ten of her books since May of 2018. As I type, it's October of 2018. Her writing is absolutely excellent! I'll read her books as long as she keeps writing. She has a fabulous talent of drawing in the reader from one book to the other. I love Cedar Cove!! Thank you Debbie Macomber!!

This is one in a series about the fictional town of Cedar Cove. It was about people who have appeared in the other books of the series and the plot was good. It deals with the many problems of these characters. I was disappointed somewhat as I was expecting this to be a Christian perspective of God helping the different people with their problems. I had read another of Debbie's book which did do that. This book gave only a worldly view.

Dr. Michael I. Bennett, educated at both Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, is a board-certified psychiatrist, Canadian, and Red Sox fan. While he’s worked in every aspect of his field, from hospital administration to managed care, his major interest is his private practice that he’s been running for almost thirty years. The author of F*ck Feelings, with his daughter Sarah Bennett, he lives with his wife in Boston and New Hampshire.Sarah Bennett has written for magazines, the Internet, television, and books. She also spent two years writing for a monthly sketch comedy show at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City. I must admit I'm a bit conflicted about this one. I found the topics and advice fairly solid but repetitive. Daughter's contribution was to be humor but I found that aspect fairly thin. While the extensive use of profanity is evidently supposed to be clever and reflective of the vernacular, I found it somewhat superfluous. Not that I am whining about it, profanity certainly has its place but in many current novels and in this work it tends to be overdone to the point where it loses the ability to deliver the emphasis that is usually its role. The format is to isolate an issue, tell you what you cannot reasonably expect to happen (despite your fondest wishes), what you can expect, how to get there and what script to follow after including examples some discussion. Shake up the content and repeat about 10 times and it get a bit wearying. It is a fairly reasonable approach to the idea that life isn't fair and here are some ways to deal with it.

As a psychotherapist with 30 years experience I liked the basic approach- sometimes it's time to stop overthinking and just accept and move on. But this isn't the right approach every time or for everyone and he doesn't recognize that. Some of his examples of "you can't expect to get this" are things my clients have been able to get. Some of his other "factual real-life" promulgations are likewise wrong. His agenda of being controversial leads him to too much black and white thinking and that skews his view of what the reality actually is. The book is good for challenging some assumptions about what therapy should look like and what it can do, but be careful in applying it that you don't become TOO accepting and forego changes that act an be made.

This book has plenty of swears -- whether that's a draw or a hindrance for you, they are in there and they are plentiful. But more importantly, this book has some of the best advice that no one gives you. Spending years getting to the source of why you don't get along with your parents or your siblings or why it's hard for you to commit or why you have self-destructive impulses is ultimately pointless to your wellbeing. Dr. Bennett recognizes these as diversions from doing the work that makes you proud of the life you have. The book doesn't promise to give you the life you want or the life you deserve, because so much of that is beyond your control. If you're born into difficult circumstances or don't have support or resources, it's going to be very hard to get the kind of life "you've always dreamed of" -- this book gives you real tools and the right mindset to achieve your goals and be proud of making the best life you can. in other words, teaches you to concentrate on getting ish done and what to do when unexpected ish hits the fan (clearly, I don't mind the swears, and I wish amazon didn't mind either). I've bought five copies for everyone in my immediate family, I'm going to probably give one to everyone on my Christmas list. Including my 90-year-old grandmother.

For too much of my life I was stuck in the "but things should be different" rut. This book, using many many examples, was a big help in getting me out of the rut and into life. It asks the question, "What is reasonable to expect?" instead of "What is the ideal solution in a perfect world?" I got the help I needed, both mental and medical, and am generally happier than I have been in decades (really truly literally).Let me just be clear: this book was an impetus, not a solution, but it did reveal the perspective I needed in my life.

This book isn't super encouraging, but it's very realistic and matter-of-fact. If you aren't into the whole woo-woo "the universe/god is working in your favor if you let it" approach to self-help, you will probably like this one as it is very scientifically based and no-nonsense. However if you are looking for a pick-me-up that makes you feel better about your situation immediately, this one might not be the best.

Praise:This book contains a treasure of wisdom, centered on accepting life's imperfections and limitations, working with them, instead of against them. This attitude is similar to the ideas of the stoic philosophers. It is also similar to the scientific method, which never asks how things ought to be, only how they are. There are many valuable passages; I'll share one:"If your career happens to lack prestige or follows an unconventional, restless path, don’t criticize yourself. Respect yourself all the more for having found a way to meet standards using equipment you didn’t choose and given habits that are hard to break."This is a refreshing antidote to the obnoxious, "follow your passion and become a new person" poison.Criticism:The book is at least one third longer than it needs to be, to communicate its content. Part of the excess includes unhelpful attempts at humor, timely pop culture references, and cursing. I admit the authors put "f*ck" right there in the title to grab attention but still, they wore me out with their "cleverness."These elements serve to "date" the book, so that its tone will sound hokey in a couple of years. (Indeed, it sounds that way to me already.) I'll be sad when that happens. This book deserves to become a classic.My American culture tragically overvalues entertainment in all forms, and humor especially. A laugh that is occasional, natural, based on real world observation, is always welcome. Compulsive humor, forced fun is rather sickening.

Wow! Straight talk life advice that pulls no punches in the most amusing way possible. I laughed so hard at this book, even while reading the parts for my particular difficulties. It's a rare book that can tell make you laugh while calling you out on your part of the BS. I love it. I'm going to keep it forever. Any issues that you're having in life can be handled through this book. You'd be hard-pressed to find anything like it. I call this my portable psychiatrist. Been waiting a while for a Hal Leonard book of Queen transcriptions. The arrangements sound very close to the originals. Playing the opening rolling intro to Don't Stop Me Now is a blast. Recommended!

I bought this hoping it would contain the piano parts from Hal Leonard's other publication "Queen Greatest Hist Off The Record". Unfortunately it's not, the piano parts here have been simplified. Sure this has some tracks that aren't in Hal's other publication, however, you'll find better versions of those online.

This is a nice edition. Very loyal to the recording versions. It was exactly what I was looking. I Highly recommend it.

I wanted more of a brief history and cultural guide for the person who will be there for Avery short time with a full agenda.

I thought this book was going to have more anecdotes about people's stories about growing up/ living in Bangladesh and be more about the culture of the country. Not so much. Its a lot of history, which wasn't what I was looking for. I won't finish reading it.

This is a book to own and read every now and then depending on which time period one wants to focus on at the moment. Hundreds of incredible pieces make this collage a piece of art!
