I especially liked how, throughout the text, she raises at least as many questions as possible answers, and how in each chapter she points us toward finding our own answers, as a good teacher should. Finally, Billington's book is both orderly and spiraling, acknowledging that we return to the foundations, revisit the basics, at many different times in our journey, often to see them as new and fresh because it is we who have moved and changed and grown. Highly recommended.

In the past ten years or so many books on Druidry or druid spirituality have been published. This is not the best but far from the worst of the lot I have read. The scholarship is basically sound and in tune with the latest in archeology and analysis of what is known about the ancient Celtic peoples. Each "druid" book offers a slighty different 'take' on the modern practice, mostly offshoots of either the OBOD or ADF version. One can take their choice, combine aspects of both or forge off in new directions. This book can assist no matter which course one selects.

A beautiful book that gives wonderful insights into the Druidic path. I think anyone can benefit from reading this book for its honest respect for all of nature.

Funny. Scary. Spot on. Hard hitting. Beyond helpful. This book deserves all these accolades and more. The title alone is brilliant and the book more than lives up to its title. I am a marriage therapist of thirty years and can attest to the dark side of coupledom that exists beyond our romantic wishes. Though I would differ with some of Mr. Sexton's conclusions, and think that some of his advice is very hard for broken people to pull off, I have already given away lots of copies of this book to clients and friends. I dare not mention how I differ with Mr. Sexton because he is a hard hitting lawyer with martial arts experience. I am most often a punch pulling kind psychotherapist who also has a bone disease. Perhaps if I take Mr. Sexton out to dinner in Manhattan I can talk over the subtle differences and enjoy more stories from his vast experience.

James Sexton offers a very realistic yet loving assessment and advice for partners in matrimony. The book validated my personal definition of marriage: if you’re lucky, it’s the best second job you’ll eve have.

The book is 40 something chapters of basically repeating information and antidotes over and over with little variance, only 2 amusing stories in between to break up the repetition. At the end of the book the author can't help but get political in a thinly veiled attempt to take political shots. Furthermore, he doesn't even understand the context of what he's trying to take a shot at. Every once in a while you find a great read that you will never forget...this is not one of those times.

Got married a month ago; this book is wonderful. It’s full of practical, actionable advice to keep you from screwing up your marriage, with plenty of hilarious stories and anecdotes inbetween. I only wish I had read it prior to getting married. I will be purchasing this book as an engagement present for all of my recently-engaged friends (I’m of “that age”).Word of caution - if you’re offended by foul language, this definitely isn’t the book for you.

This is undoubtedly a very different sort of relationship book than most. As the author states, it’s a “how-not-to” book, not a “how-to” book. Several of the ideas herein are very intriguing and could only come someone who is well versed in how marriages fall apart. The anecdotes are also quite entertaining.

Although I haven't yet finished the book, I find it educational and entertaining. My 85 year old mother-in-law borrowed it during a visit and also found it enjoyable reading, writing notes to herself in the course of reading. Volume three is a step down from the traditional shameless fun Preacher is known for, as a number of flaws in the writing drag it down. Your mileage may vary on this, but let me explain.First, this volume gets dominated by flashbacks. The first is the 100 page special on the origin of the Saint of killers. The next was a normal issue of Cassidy encountering another vampire (after the two flashbacks from the last volume). Don't get me wrong, neither of these flashbacks was bad per se, it's just that all of this backstory torched the pacing.The bigger problem was the new twist that gets introduced as soon as we get back from the flashbacks. A new revelation by Cassidy comes out of nowhere to screw with the character dynamics. I don't buy it existing, and it just throws the whole story off it's axis.Now, let me be clear. All the usual great dialogue and humor is still in this volumes. But the flaws are there, and hopefully get corrected in volume four.

I hadn't read this in a long time. it was good to experience this world again. ona digital format makes traveling for work a perk. Yeah I'm probably the late thirties guy in jeans and sport coat reading comics next to you int he terminal or on the flight. Comics... nope. GRAPHIC NOVELS. lol.Volume three I think has some of the most amazing story arcs in the preacher storyline, right there with volume 2. If you like hte TV show, you love the first 3 volumes and see how tame that in your face show is compared to the 'Comic'. lol.And a great story line where cassidy basically calls Anne Rices vampire motive the twilight of the grunge generation (and so right)

Preacher is my favorite vertigo title of all time. I don't even remember why I bought the first issue, but I'm glad I did. The story of Jesse Custer, girlfriend Tulip and friend vampire, Cassidy, it's the simple story of a man's search for God. Not the spiritual way, but actual God. And that all I can say. Get it. Read it. It's not for everyone, and it helps if one has a warped sense of humor, but it's worth reading! Again and again and again.

A nice reading. Its a 90s comic and great if you were between 15 and 20 during that time. The story its not great but you will get a lot of laughs. I recommend the tpb, the deluxe version its more expensive but you should bought it only if you already had read this and loved it. Its not even oversized

I was a big fan of this book as it was first released. There was nothing else like it on the market. After watching the TV show I decided to re-read it and instead of digging through all my long boxes I just bought the digital versions.Insane in all the best ways

Background on all the characters is well fleshed out and at a good pace. It's weird at times seeing concepts like God and the devil anthropomorphized but that's part of the game for Preacher. Everyone should be held accountable for their actions.

Preacher is one of the most unique GN's to come out in a while.But with Garth Ennis and Steve Dillion at the helm...i'd expect nothing less!I found this book especially compelling because the focus was on the S.O.K'sand his story....I'm partial to westerns .Great storyline, i'm on book 4 and it just continues to impress.Kudos to Garth Steve and Vertigo!

This comic series did not age as well as I had hoped. I read it back when I was a bit more juvenile, and I loved every minute of it. Now that I'm older and a bit more mature, I was definitely put off a little bit by the disgusting manner of the main characters and the heavy handed nature of the social and religious commentary.

Got hooked on the series and now reading the original. The series is more compact, the comic book opens up the whole story

I don't know the best words to describe the epicness of this book. I understand Reiki is a form of healing through touch but never would I have thought there was so much to talk about in this field. This book is accessible for a wide audience. I especially liked that the author inspired interest in exploring the concept of Reiki and the ways that this healing art can help remove energetic blockages, resolve emotional or spiritual issues, balance energy, provide energetic support for animals, and more. This book serves its purpose fairly well and offers a helpful guide to begin your Reiki practice.

I loved this entire book. I could not read it fast enough and wished it could have gone on and on. I have read parts of it over and over again. I am a level Two Reiki and have not ever felt this excited about Reiki. I have started self healing each day, writing the symbols and trying to live the 5 precepts. I am a college adjunct faculty English teacher and I wanted a simple edition with notes for my class to read in the fall. I was going to order 20 of these for the class, but I am so glad I first bought one for myself. The paper edition doesn't have any spaces between the speakers, either, so it is difficult to read, even if it were written in language my students, mostly college freshmen, could easily understand. They would give up on this edition. Also, there are absolutely NO NOTES for students that define and explain some of the more obscure vocabulary and written expressions. The text underneath this edition on Amazon did NOT say that there were no notes. It is not helpful AT ALL for a new reader of Shakespeare or a reader who only read it in high school unwillingly. I am going to order something else for my class.

As noted by other reviewers, this edition provides but a fraction of what it promises. There are no annotations, no photographs — a historical impossibility of monumental absurdity — of the author, nor any of the other promised features. Beyond that, it does not even include a dramatis personnae, a hallowed standard for any dramatic work. Even the ratings provided by Kindle were for other Shakespeare plays. ... Is there no quality control for works published by Kindle? This was such a sham that it makes me very leery about future purchases from Kindle, especially for editions with which I am not familiar.

This is probably the worst book I've ever received. Characters are not marked. There is no formatting. It is just a wall of text. Don't buy this. Get a different copy of this play.

As an English teacher, teaching Shakespeare can be quite a challenge. For modern students, trying to connect the concepts, theme, and setting of Romeo and Juliet can be quite a challenge. Keeping them engaged in the struggle of Shakespearean language is even more so. This version of the play is accurate and most importantly, entertaining. We, as a class, will read a portion of the play and then I will show this film to help cement ideas, dialogue, and characters. The students love the film, laugh, and respond better to the play than without!

When I saw Romeo & Juliet in the theatre -- on its opening weekend -- after the film in the lobby I saw dozens of teenaged girls sobbing in each other's arms. I've never seen anything like that before or since. That alone marks the film as a masterpiece, and nothing any critic can say is relevant next to that emotional reaction. Those sobbing teenagers are absolute proof that any critic who panned this film is a fool.Di'Caprio wasn't very famous at that point (though I believe he'd already been nominated for an oscar for an indy film). Later that night, I had dinner with friends and predicted that this boy would become the biggest star in Hollywood -- by tomorrow! I was off by a couple of years. Rare in film history has there been such a perfect casting -- Leonardo DiCaprio as Romeo. The mythical balcony scene is freshly designed and executed wonderfully, bringing the myth to life before our eyes. But the crowning glory and superpower of this film is the 'love at first sight' scene - ironic in that there are no words spoken (words being Shakespeare's superpower). It's all done with the eyes by the two young genius actors, combined with inspired camera work and the devastating vocal performance of Des'ree. This is one of the most beautiful, greatest, and most powerful scenes in cinematic history.What is this emotion -- love at first sight? It might only happen two or three times in our entire lives. It isn't real love. So is it just trivial, adolescent silliness? I think it is much more than that -- and so did Shakespeare. What is our emotional relationship with our desires that can never be? We're haunted forever by the impossiblity of perfect love as much as we were ever thrilled by the fantasy of it. Baz Luhrmann's 'Romeo & Juliet' taps deeply into the impossible longings that never leave us. It is a masterpiece.

I did not want to see this movie for years after its release. I consider myself a purist where the Bard of Avon is concerned. I adored the films Henry V & Much Ado About Nothing, both directed and starring Kenneth Branaugh, Richard III starring and directed by Olivier. Period costumes, true to Shakespeare's lines, etc. I began to change when I realized (fairly early on in watching it) that 10 Things I Hate About You, was a delightful retelling of The Taming Of The Shrew. Eventually I watched this and found a gem. From the factions portrayed as rival gangs, to the outstanding delivery of the lines. The true crowning jewel is the over the top performance by the inimitable John Leguizamo. As Tibalt, John is amazing.
