I think the book is very well researched, written, and laid out, I'm not quite sure why I expected differently, perhaps because of the stone circle on the front, but I thought it might be more geared to the ancient and pagan spiritual sites. Instead, while it includes prominent ones, a lot of ink is given to relating stories of various Christian saints and other church leaders, and the sites associated with them.

This is more than a simple traveler's guide book. It provides the detailed history, significance and practices surrounding the sacred sites of Britain, including many lesser-known sites. The book gives the reader a foundation necessary for truly understanding and experiencing the sacred sites. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to visit Britain's sacred sites and come away with more than a snap-shot view.

I just like these kind of books. I just booked a trip to Scotland so I will be referring to this book a lot. I can't wait to get to Scotland and actually see some of these places I've been reading about.

The book is phenomenal and I cannot wait to put it to good use on my next trip. It covers all sacred sites from the mound graves to Chinese temples. This book is written with a great deal of historical research and care, I love that Palmer does this without rendering the book unreadable. The b&b's, hostels, and other accommodations while cost-conscious are lovely and inviting. Again, I am totally in love with this travel guide.

The author chronicles Nasser's conspiratorial role in forming and leading the "Free Officers Movement". How upon the execution of the July 23, 1952 revolution, he installed General Neguib who was senior in military rank compared to the thirty-four year old young Nasser. He remained behind the scenes of politics, but Nasser was the real power in Egypt. The author shows with concrete evidence that "Much of the change in Egyp", after the July 23, 1952, "canbe traced to a signle man. Gamal Abdel Nasser", who, "was one of the strongest middle Eastern Leaders", and one of the giants and remarkable statesmen of the 20th century, and one "of the most influential leaders of the twentieth century. The book narrates that "Though Nasser did not like to take advice he had the ultimate courage and sublime honesty...to take the blame for his own mistakes", as was, "the case with" the June 1967 setback. He resigned as President , but the people with that tempestuous eruption of emotions, as tens upon tens of thousands marched in the streets, both in Cairo, and in other cities in other Arab world ( Beirut, Sidon, Tripoli in Lebanon; Damascus and other cities in Syria, as well as in Jordan. Many politicians joined the marches and finally President Nasser complied with their request. The author concludes how Nasser dedicated his life to improve conditions in Egypt by abolishing feudalism and establishing land reforms, the evacuation of 80,000 British troops from Egypt after 74 years of occuption; the nationalization of the Suez Canal, and the crowning of his achievement by building the Awan High Dam which stores today 3 years of Nile water. In the Arab World Nasser was worshiped as the emblem of dignity and national pride, as the author succinctly put. Finally the author concludes by describing Nasser's premature death at age 52 of sudden heart attack , and how Nasser's death shocked the entire Arab world, as an event that has sparked the greates grief the world has ever seen: one million showed up in the streets of Cairo to mourn his death__Mutih Skeini

I love a good mystery or psychological thriller but this book was over the top with disturbing graphic torture. I loved the Lizzie Gardner series but I think this will be my last book I read by this author. She's a great writer but I actually hate nightmares. It could have still been a good book with less graphic details.

T.R. Reagan is an auto-buy for me. She's one of my favorite authors. I loved both the Lizzy Gardner and Faith McMann books. And Jessie Cole looks like the start of another great series.There are several stories going on in the book: Jessie is being investigated by the police for wounding someone she was tailing as a private investigator (I actually thought this storyline wrapped up a little too quickly), Jessie and Ben (newspaper reporter) are trying to find answers as to what happened to Jessie's sister who disappeared a decade prior, and the Heartless Killer, who is abducting people at random to torture and kill.The Hearless Killer storyline was the most interesting to me. It's pretty gruesome, but riveting at the same time. No rhyme or reason to the people he picks to abduct, and he plays on their worst fears (that he uses social media to find). Jessie is searching for a missing woman, Zee, who's connected to the case. I really liked Zee, I'm kind of hoping she pops up again in future books. Plus, she delivered some much needed levity in a dark story.Jessie is the guardian of her 14 year old niece, and she's maybe dating a police officer named Colin (who is on the Heartless Killer case). Colin seems like a good guy, but he wasn't in the book enough to get a good sense of him.So, I liked the book, I look forward to reading more, but I can't quite bring myself to give it five stars. Why? It's all...a little familiar, there are a lot of parallels with the Lizzy Gardner series. Hopefully, more time spent with the characters will make them shine on their own.

After reading the Lizzy Garner series – which is fabulous – I was extremely excited about this new series!!! It was thrilling!!! However I must say that I’m not quite sure how I feel about Jessie. I feel that she lacks a lot of vital elements that a PI should have such as self defense – without the use of a gun – and her instincts seem a bit off. I feel that self defense is a necessity for all women but I think it is imperative in her line of work. She second guessed herself a lot and rushed to judgment to quickly. She put herself in a situation where she was almost killed due to her lack of judgment. She seems to lack the skills to be a PI. Especially for as long as she has been doing it. But hopefully these issues will develop at some point. Hopefully sooner rather than later.I find myself liking Ben more than Jessie because he is willing to step up and do what is necessary to get the job done. He may have been searching for the key to his past however it wasn’t just all about him. He was honest with Jessie and even though he had no past he was well rounded. Which is more than I can say for Jessie.There were also too many subtopics in the story and I found myself confused at times. There was just way too much going on. Hopefully as the series develops everything will become rounded. Don’t get me wrong this book isn’t bad it just isn’t all that great. But that’s my opinion. However I will read the next book. If not for any reason just to simply find out what happens with Ben.

It’s sooooo awesomely disturbing that I don’t know where to start with this review. The story will keep you guessing about EVERYTHING going on. It’s bloody, gruesome. You have a SERIAL KILLER on the loose for years, missing people, a lost sister, desperate parents, a PI, FBI and the Police Department. The whole shanannigans. If you don’t have a strong stomach don’t read this book. Trust me is so well written that you will feel all the pain and see everything like you are there with the victims. If you are a fan of trillers, suspense, and dark reads THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU.

I am exhausted and have no time to write. Just please get this book. Very illuminating about a period in the US Saudi relationship that we are not permitted to even imagine now.Almost nowhere else can we discern turning points so clearly . Turning points in the US Saudi Relationship and also in the degree to which big oil and banking dominated the rest of US capitalism. This is a much much better book than this awful review suggests. I am sorry but it needed another five star review up fast, and I will come back and try to write a real review later.This is MUST reading for ALL studies of Twentieth century Middle East history and ALL post 1945 US history students.

One of the most difficult books I've ever "struggled" to read. The author sometimes introduced subjects as if he assumed the reader already "knew". Nevertheless, it included a wealth of information.
