This is not a deep story, but a fun one. The main elements that make this story surprisingly great:-Buildup of his own empire from scratch-Villain doing good superhero stuff with villain's flare to it-Some trading-Cool tech/inventions-Light harem action-Character growth/leveling (specifically litRPG style, some will like others won't)-Interesting abilities (typical of the super genre)Only things that really nag me after reading this story:-Start premise was a bit weak, but it was brief and we moved on so that's good-The end. It was done poorly/rushed. Should have had another 10-15 pages setting everything right and tying up loose ends.-The main character getting his hands dirty there at the end. Should have stayed true to form and found a way to get the job done using his own unique talents/characteristics. (Everything after reaching the elevator bottom was garbage.)-Who was really the bad guy here? Yeah we kind of got a vague answer, but the point to the conflict was really vague and glossed over. He's just always under attack for what turns out to be a pretty thin reason that's answered in basically 2 or 3 sentences on a random page towards the end.Despite those few flaws, this is really one of the best books of it's type I've read in a year or two. Not many come out with with these plot elements that are done well. (Similar recent non-super examples would include the Stavin Dragonblessed series by Loren K. Jones, ALICE by Charles Lamb, Wild Wastes by Randi Darren, and Destiny's Crucible by Olan Thorensen.) Keeps you turning the page for sure. Short enough for a half-day read.I don't generally like most "super" stories, but this one was very solid. I'll buy the next in the series without waiting for reviews.

The title alone got my attention when it popped up while browsing Amazon. I grabbed the sample, read the first couple sentences, and bought the full book. Super Sales was one of the most fun reads I've had in ages. I could compare this to the likes of Kim Harrison, who has been one of my favorites since DWW, but I digress. You want to know about Super Sales.Get it. Read it. Don't wait, don't think about it, just do it. This book was like reading a video game, but better. The alternative history/urban fantasy base works in a unique way for Super Sales, not just giving you a "what if" scenario, but giving it to you with a twist that works perfectly. The RPG and even FPS elements were strong, driving the plot and action, and the characters were all unique, even lovable. Yes, I have my favorites.Frankly, I'd absolutely LOVE an open world PC game based on this book. You'd end up with a multi-genre game with near infinite replayability. I know I'd never stop playing it. As it is, I just finished the book and am immediately considering reading it again, starting now. I've never enjoyed a book so much that I started rereading it immediately.Thank you, Mr. Arand. You've got a masterpiece with Super Sales on Super Heroes. Please, please write a sequel. I'll be waiting patiently and looking forward to it.

Lets start with the fact that this book hits LitRPG from an entirely new angle. I have never heard of a combination of niche genres quite like this, and the execution? Excellent. Nothing is as straightforward or black and white as it may appear. Much like reality. The MC is human, with human foibles and flaws, but the ability to adapt and grow based on the interactions of those around him. The MC at the beginning is wholly different from the MC at the end. Characters have true substance and motivations, not flat and 2d. Even my wife loves this book, and she hates Super Hero/Villain themed books. Great job William!

Ok this is one of the most original Supers novels I have read since Don't Tell My Parents I am a Supervillain. Don't think I have ever read a Supers novel quite this entertaining. Def looking forward to the sequel.

Funny, with down right laughable bits. Backstabbing good/bad guys. People that are people, that work together for a common goal.Damn fine book. Really looking forward to seeing if there is a sequel to this one.

Wow! Had no idea when I started just how different this book would be. The main hero's power is unlike anything I'd ever seen before. Very unique and creative. The plot is pretty straightforward, the characterizations are very good, and clearly there is plenty of room for sequels.So many really interesting and unusual ideas in this book, and they all work well. One of the few books I've read recently that I just couldn't put down. I highly recommend the book, and can happily say I just bought his other series. Can't wait to get started on that, and I can't wait for the sequel to this amazing book!

How does some random minor super with an odd power found what could become either the worlds semi-utopian corporation (or greatest evil organization)? Just ask Felix. Really enjoyed the heck out of this book, purchased it on a Friday, finished over the weekend and reread it before the next weekend started. The story flows nicely, with the titular character doing actual things that earn him the respect and affection of his romantic interest, instead of him getting it because Plot!! Now picking up the others books by the same author.

Although I don't claim to be a molecular biologist, nor have I read beyond chapter 5 of Lodish's "Molecular and Cell Biology", this textbook feels admirably thorough in its treatment of its subject, bringing the reader up to date on a wide range of the detail generated in the field over the past few decades.The book's authors, furthermore, have addressed the learning needs of their readership; once it moves into its substantive chapters, virtually all points are made simultaneously with textbook prose and colorful, graphic illustrations which are well drawn and accompanied by excellent captions. This aspect of the book is its great strength.There is a far more serious problem with the book, however, which explains the middling rating I have given it. Like many such textbooks, it is committee-written, which is not a problem when such books are given proper shape by a sharp editor. But the book lacks that editor and as a result dwells on the most trivial developments in its field with exactly the same weight as its bedrock components to a fault. In aiming to be comprehensive, it drowns the reader in a sea of obnoxious detail that begs the book and its authors not to be taken seriously. The book may have been conceived as a reference, but I fear that it will always be assigned chapter rather than passage at a time, as is customary in graduate school courses.The corollary to this situation is that the first several chapters of the book describe a host of laboratory processes, each in enormous detail and overall in serial fashion, without adequately describing the use and purpose for each. The book then explains that each process will be taken up in a later chapter in conjunction with an exploration of the field in which it is mainly used. This is all fine, but does the reader really need to be held accountable for a description of these processes twice, particularly when they are presented so haphazardly initially? At least in the first five chapters, rote memorization is the only learning strategy possible for the vast majority of the material. And while there is nothing wrong with rote memorization, the unconnectedness of the material, combined with its sprawling volume, make these initial chapters virtually useless as learning tools.I recommend this book, therefore, with a strict reservation: it should only be used by a teacher so familiar with it that he can assign "primary", "secondary", and perhaps even "tertiary" passages from it at a time, in order to help the reader build an understanding of molecular biology systematically and rationally structure his study time.

I am a postdoctoral researcher and bought this as a reference. If you don't need this, don't waste your money. Bruce Albert's 'Molecular Biology of the Cell' is 5x better and not 5x the price.

I used this book as the text for a UC Santa Cruz extension course in molecular cell biology. I read about 2/3 of it for course reading assignments and I found it to be excellent. It's clearly and well written but is definitely information dense. You really have to focus closely while you're reading it. Expect to need to read most sections at least twice to absorb the material.The diagrams are plentiful, are well drawn and must also be studied carefully since they contain information not included in the body of the text itself.Information has obviously been updated as new versions of the book have appeared. This 4th edition has many references to publications as recent as 1999.The animations in the accompanying CD are sometimes useful. A good example is the animation in chapter 22 of cell-cell adhesion in leukocyte extravasation.

The authors did a good job correctly pulling together modern information. The information is accurate and drawn from literature. Unlike some textbooks I have used recently, they were no factual errors. The illustrations are good. But, this book fell short on editing. The chapters are not very well organized; information that should be together is scattered throughout a chapter. Also, the language used is unnecessarily difficult at times. Finally, the paragraph organization is poor so you have to read and re-read to get the main points.I would have liked to see better organization and editing. Overall, it is good info but very hard to read and extract what you came for.But I would buy it again.

I just repurchased this 4th edition after realizing that the later editions of Molecular Cell Biology have damped down on biophysical and biochemical aspects of cell biology; much of the equations have been removed from this classic textbook in the later editions. It is a common problem across most biochemistry and cell-biology texts these days - it only serves to dumb-down the current generation of graduate students.

My regret is that this was not released until after I went to Iceland in July. There is a lot of very good information, I do wish the book was bigger to enjoy the images but on the other side, it is a packable size though I may splurge and get the Kindle version. There are a lot of places mentioned I wished I had time to visit but there was at least one curious omissions, for instance, Svartifoss Waterfalls, a spectacular waterfall in basalt columns near some of the locations mentioned was not there. You can Google it to easily find it. But this book could not possibly mention them all so I would do some further searching. The plus side is I'm going back in March and there were a lot of winter images and info so yay!

This is NOT a collection of photographs; NOT a coffee table book. It is an excellent helping hand for photographers that want to know where they can get a photo; what are the considerations for The Shot -- location, south side of the river or the north; aperture; best filter for that waterfall shot, etc. In short, it's the kind of guidance anyone who is serious about their photography would like to have BEFORE going on-site. If only you could have this kind of guidance before that trip to Botswana or Angkor Wat or . . . anyplace that costs alot to get to and is likely to be seen only once.

Great book and just what I wanted because, instead of a book full of technical how-to as to photographing Iceland, the book gives five detailed tours of Iceland.The author tells us where to stay, what kind of car to rent, and even what something to bring :-) Of course, he also talks about the camera equipment you will need. Even points out that sheep often across the road and with no warning â€” The guy knows the country!He also points out that many potentially dangerous sites in Iceland are not fenced: for example glaciers, and certain features for which he suggest you take a guide with you. Not something I read every day in photography books :-)The bulk of the book is the authorâ€™s detailed description of five tours to take, including ReykjavÃk, which will yield great photographic opportunities. For each location he gives â€œtop tipsâ€œ including what to eat, where to eat, where to stay, etc. he talks about the tourist destinations, for example art museums in ReykjavÃk, as well as where and when to shoot pics.In his essay on the northern part of Iceland he talks about which towns to stay in to avoid long drives, especially in the Icelandic dark winter. Schulz does not skimp on the technical aspects we all look for-for the mud pools at Hverir, for example, he gives exact camera settings including the filter to use to shoot the colorful mud holes.And for each location, he often give us the time of year to be there that time of day to shoot, what equipment you will need for that specific location-for example, bring along a long lens when you visit the coast in order to shoot whales, local phone numbers to call for information, and many website links to helpful information about your stay there.The area that appeals to me the most by his description is the â€œgolden circleâ€œ with its hidden waterfalls. Schulz describes one area is having a secluded waterfall that flows into a blue gully â€” how could you not want to see that for yourself?This is, happily, not just a how-to photograph book but instead a complete guide to visiting Iceland with your camera. Itâ€™s just about all you would need to take with you on your trip as far as great books. Tells you where to go, where to stay and eat, what equipment to bring, even what kind of car to rent for particular locales, and what time to arrive at your chosen sites. Well worth having!

Most folks don't have a producer to help them schedule and plan a trip to Iceland, so I found it to be an invaluable resource for working in a place that Iâ€™d never been. If you're interested in capturing beautiful images in Iceland, this is a book that you shouldn't leave behind.

I am finding Morris' commentary extremely helpful. He exegetes problematical Greek, which is helpful for an indifferently-able Greek reader. His analysis of Paul's logical arguments and the chapter outlines have made my study and teaching easier. His interpretations are from what I would label an evangelical, rather than fundamentalist point of view, with which I agree.

Good reference material. A little more difficult than RC Sprouls book, but still a great reference tool. Items recieved quickly and in good condition.

Colleen Crossâ€™ â€œAnatomy of a Ponziâ€ is one of those books that makes you wonder â€œAre people really that stupid or is it just greed? Maybe both.â€ It boggles the mind to think that there are people in the world you can honestly believe that they can get a 500%, 800% or a 1,000% return on their investment. And itâ€™s even more mind-boggling to think there are people who perpetrate these scams and get away with them for years.â€œAnatomy of a Ponziâ€ is extremely well written. Cross knows her stuff who doesnâ€™t confuse you with technical jargon while at the same time not talking down to you. The highlight of the book, to me, was a review of the all-time top ten global Ponzi schemes. Itâ€™s good to know there are stupid people around the world. Originally written in 2013, I also appreciated the fact that Cross updated the book just this month â€“ January 2018.My only complaint about this book was Randal Schaffer. There was just something about his voice that grated on me and he almost â€“ almost â€“ detracted from an excellent book.

Make no mistake about it. Ponzi schemes are more prevalent and devastating than ever. Thatâ€™s why Iâ€™m so pleased to see author Colleen Cross provide a comprehensive look at the topic, with useful tips on how to avoid investing with these persuasive con artists. She brings a clearer understanding of these schemes and a broad overview starting with Charles Ponzi (infamous for selling Florida swampland, among other things) and ending with more recent and larger fiascos such as Bernie Madoffâ€™s $65 billion dollar debacle.Cross describes how to recognize a Ponzi scheme. She even predicts when the next huge Ponzi scheme will be discovered. Trust me, itâ€™s coming soon, but youâ€™ll have to read the book to find out when. Anatomy of a Ponzi is a great reference for those whoâ€™ve heard of Ponzi schemes but donâ€™t know what they are or how they differ from a pyramid scheme. She also dispels some common myths that all victims lose money due to greed. For instance, many of Madoffâ€™s victims didnâ€™t even know that their pension fund had found its way into his complex network.Especially appealing is the style Cross uses to tell the story. Chapters that discuss a particular fraudster employ fictional techniques such as first-person POV and dialogue to introduce us to the men and women behind the schemes. From there, she switches to a nonfiction narrative style. Itâ€™s a great way to engage readers into stories about business strategies and numbers.As some of these criminalsâ€™ stories are still ongoing, I would love to see an update and to learn about the latest exposed schemes. As Cross points out, though, there are simply far too few discoveries and convictions. Ponzi schemes are becoming increasingly sophisticated and more difficult to expose. Given the damage theyâ€™ve done, and will do, to millions of lives itâ€™s pretty scary stuff. This book, however, will help you avoid what others could not.

About the Author

Martin Luther King Jr. was President of the southern Christian Leadership conference and co-pastor of Ebenezer Baptist church, Atlanta, George. King's preaching shines in this book. Though assessed mostly for his speeches and letters relating specifically to civil rights, King's strength in preaching through a text of Scripture is underappreciated by many. I believe King is especially strong and insightful when he comes to the parables of Jesus.The other thing this book taught me is that it is impossible to separate King's religious views from his views on societal reformation. King's religious views motivated and propelled his desire for social change. So those who talk and write about King should not diminish this aspect of his life. King's life work is explicitly Christian. In a world where religion is routinely abused, rejected, shunned and sequestered, King stands as a ray of hope for all who would want to live out their faith in the public square.

This is the most beautiful and transformative book I've ever read. The power of Dr. King's message is undeniable. This book goes beyond what one would expect from a compilation of sermons... Full of logic and free of judgement. This is a book that you will read again and again and it will move your heart and inspire your mind. The text is about love, I would imagine that all people can relate to Dr. King's words regardless of their specific religious beliefs. It transcends religion and speaks to humanity and true morality. If you ever consider what can be done to make this world just a little better, read this book and share it with others.

This is one of those rare books that can change your life. After reading this book I don't know how anyone could ever again be for segregation or believe that God created any class of people to be "less than." I also don't know how anyone could comfortably sit on the sidelines when they witness any form of injustice taking place. Dr. King made religion come alive in loving action and left us an example to follow if we want a better America and a better world.

The speech I watched him give in Kansas City is included in this book. The concept: if Paul wrote a letter to the Americans, what would he say? His wisdom is a treasure and this book is now a part of my permanent collection. If only we lived up to these ideas...

NO WORDS CAN EXPRESS how grateful I am to have a hard back copy of this book. I grew up in the time Martin Luther King marched for civil rights and against war. But what I did not initially realize was, this book is first run, first edition!!!!! Unbelievable that I should end up with this. It's just a gift from God. (for under $20 dollars!!!). It was initially a "good" read back in the 60s, but MLK actually prophesies about what is taking place today, with the president we currently have(2017), and the ugly bitterness we are seeing & experiencing. Where the Spirit of G-d is, there is the Spirit of prophecy....and it is still true! So grateful that someone like this man walked the earth!I learn more every day, as I read this book. Good to stay "teachable"!

This is a collection of sermons that have been edited for book format. I discussed this with a group of professors, retired professors, retired professionals, and others. We all like it. My graduate degrees are in English and divinity and it is exactly the sort of book I like to read, but in our group there are people who don't have the same background and they found that it's a bit more accessible than some of the books we've read together. So I think it would have a wide appeal. There is a sermon on how a Christian should view Communism. Some of my group felt that it was his response to his critics so that he wouldn't be considered a communist. That may be the context, but I felt that he made some good points that could still apply today. So some felt that sermon was more dated than the rest. The others are a bit more timeless. Of course, MLK is quoted a good bit and there are quite a few quotable places in here. "Destructive means cannot bring constructive ends..." p101. Some people consider MLK a civil rights leader but forget that he was a Baptist pastor. The sermons give a great deal of insight into how he viewed how spiritual life should affect social change. It's a great social justice resource.

Martin Luther King, Jr. perfectly integrated his faith and learning. "Strength to Love" is his most esteemed work because, as his widow Coretta Scott King stated, it explains "his belief in a divine, loving presence that binds all life."Throughout the book, King constantly quotes the Torah, the Psalms, the prophets, the words of Jesus and letters from the Apostle. Additionally King cites the Shakespeare, William Wilberforce, James Russell Lowell, Henry David Thoreau, and others. Martin Luther King was not only a very devout Christian; he was also very intelligent and well-read scholar. He used his strong faith in God and his powerful intellect to change the world."Strength to Love" is one of the most motivating books I have read in a while. Written nearly fifty years ago, the words of Dr. King still ring true today. I encourage everyone to pick this book up.

The stickers in this book are really quite nice. I bought a few sticker books to give as gifts to some of the younger members of my extended family and they all loved them. They use them on letters, envelopes, books, faces, walls, computers, mirrors, hair, windows, refrigerators, chairs, stoves, tables, each other, and even on the dog and it's driving me nuts. But I think the dog likes them.WARNING - If you give these stickers to young person as a gift, do NOT give this book as a companion piece: Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy BookThey really are nice stickers, though.

One caveat off the bat: putting a loose sheet of paper under the page you're working on will help immensely when coloring this book. My first picture, the pictures underneath rubbed together and there was transfer in the areas where I did lots of layering.I like this book overall, though. It was printed on both sides of the page, so it's definitely a colored pencil book and not a pen or marker book, but the illustrations are adorable. I like fairies and I like flowers, so it's kind of a no-brainer for me. The pictures aren't super intricate the way that many adult coloring books are. I don't mind this. I don't like coloring a lot of fiddly little areas--I'd much rather play with color theory and gradient techniques--so if you're like me, you will probably like this book.

Dover / Creative Haven have a broad selection of coloring books for all ages.With that said, I was looking for the subject of Fairies and a coloring book that was inexpensive. At this writing, this book was less than $3.The pages are double-sided, thus both sides of the page have printing. Be aware of this if you have a preference for single-sided pages, and be mindful if you are an adult with an arsenal of different mediums such as colored pencil, alcohol markers, or water color pencils/paints. Alcohol markers will bleed through, marring the line drawing on the backside. Watercolors will warp the page. Without the use of a sheet of copy paper or bristol behind the page you are working on, the back print can mark the next page.The paper used in this coloring book is thin but has some texture. Colored pencil layers can be achieved but with a light hand.I have included a photo of a finished piece. I used Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils for a majority of the work, Blick Studio pencils for the pink azaleas and skin tones, and a black Prismacolor for eyelash details. Odorless mineral spirits applied with a small paint brush was used for blending for the letter 'A' and for the skin.It would be nice if this was republished on thicker, single-sided higher quality paper.

My eight-year-old daughter loves fairies and coloring so for her birthday, I got her a couple of coloring books by Dover. The paper is of good quality, holding up to colored pencils, watercolor pencils, and also fineline markers (she uses Stabilo markers). I love the details in the illustrations and the alphabet and fairy theme is interesting and fun. Each of the pages is devoted to one fairy and one letter of the alphabet. Some of the fairies featured are the honeysuckle fairy, jonquil fairy, unicorn plant flower fairy, iris fairy, and many more. I think the book is not only suited for children but will appeal to adults as well. I was certainly inspired to try my hand at the letter "Z" featuring the zinnia fairy. The book measures about 8 by 11 inches so the pages are a nice size for coloring and getting some beautiful pictures which might even be framed.

Garden Fairy Alphabet Coloring Book This is such a cute, fun book to color. Though they sell it as a children's coloring book, it is certainly just as popular for the adult who wants a quick pick me up. The fairies are so dear and you can almost imagine them as they guard their flowers. I certainly enjoy coloring in this book. It's super cute, and, the pictures are just drawn so well. The flowers are realistic and true to life. Again, very enjoyable.

These are nice coloring books for adults. The paper is of a thicker, higher quality than you will find in hb hor bargain coloring books. When you go to erase mistakes, use a white plastic eraser. It erases everything and with these thicker pages, they don't tear or become thin which can cause a hole to form. Get some Staetdler colored pencils, Prismacolors or some higher girade colored pencils and you should be set for a nice, relaxing and fun afternoon!

It looks like it will be so much fun to color. The pages aren't one sided so that's disappointing but still, I'm looking forward to coloring them. Will probably have to use pencils instead of my gel pens cause I think my gel pens will bleed through. :-(

This is a beautiful coloring book. Each page has the letter clearly shown and a Fairy and their flower. My boys love it. It is excellent quality, as Dover always is. My boys liked the Alphabetimals coloring book more, but really enjoyed the fairies, as well.

The stickers are so pretty and you can't beat the price! Here are two Artist Trading Card I made with the fairies.
