The details and breakdown of this book are fantastic. This book is both helpful for those who need a general idea of how to approach UX design and those who want flesh, bone, and practical application. As a programming and web development student this was incredibly helpful supplementing my course work (as school curriculum are structured to be slow instead of following/begin ahead of the curve).

This book tries to cover the field of User Experience from A to Z. As a result some of the information is very good and some is not very good. This is problematic because it is aimed at an audience that is new to user experience and that audience won't know the difference between good and not so good user experience practices. I can not recommend it.

Should be titled "Project Management of UX Designs for Very Large Websites", instead of "UX Design". 2/3 of the book consists of excellent details on web UX project management; 1/3 is webpages' UX recommendations, mostly on retail websites. For example, book writes more about workshop procedures to gather UX specifications than about webpages' UX specifications.Authors are premiere UX consultants in Great Britain, hired by sizable companies, frequently retailers. They write from such perspective, dealing with websites with budgets covering several specialists including visual designer, developer, marketer, product managers, campaign managers, etc. Excellent tips on how to involve committees and consensus-building during web UX design. Not for smaller websites.The book has weaknesses. 1. User design, I believe, should be tied into search engine and web marketing, and this approach doesn't. 2. The book is interested in profitability and returns on investments, but I feel it should have stronger emphasis. 3. Tie into social media in design is absent.Incorrect title and profitability weaknesses--4 star.Who would particularly benefit from this book?1. Buyers of UX services would learn what UX people do.2. A trainee for UX would learn a lot!3. A web designer without a UX department who suddenly lands a large project.

Beware that the reviews on this book are shared between multiple editions from several publishers, and these are _not_ all equivalent. For a book that is such a landmark, the editions available, and the process of choosing one, are a shambles. In particular, some editions, being from different originals, lack some chapters. Some editions are printed in a way that is visually difficult to read, and some are easier to navigate than others.Here's what I learned:-- 1451578172 Red cover, Pacific Publishing 2010: I have this one, and of the ones reviewed here, it is visually the most readable, but still flawed. At 265 pages of 8" x 10" within normal-looking margins, the the font size is small which, proportionately, makes the line-lengths too long. The substantial visual virtue relative to other editions is that the line spacing is more generous. Its table of contents lists subheadings within chapters, which becomes a useful outline of the book.Odd pages' footers show chapter name, which eases navigation within the book. Don't know what original edition of Mises' this is based on, but it does include Part 4 (chapters 21-23) and Appendix A "Classification of Monetary Theories", and also Appx B "Translators Note." It has no prefaces or introduction (despite the Biographical Note referring to an Intro by Murray Rothbard.)Probably the biggest blunder in this edition is that in Chapter 2 there are two or three pages discussing utility, in which the variable beta is introduced. Unfortunatly the character for beta is typeset either as a box, or as nothing at all, rendering most of this discussion meaningless.-- 1467934879 $100 bills cover, CreateSpace 2011: I have this one, and it's not so desirable. According to Amazon's blurb, this is the text of the 1934 edition, though you wouldn't know if from the book itself which contains absolutely no meta information about the original work, nor about the present publisher or publication date. It contains only only chapters 1-20, with no additional foreward, preface, notes etc. Individual pages are numbered, but have no indication of chapter. Smallest print of all editions here, with the entire 20 chapters in 160 pages. (compared to 225 for the Red cover edition).-- 098406141X Gold-card-containing-bills cover, Signalman Publishing 2010: I have this, and it contains: Chapters 1-23, Appx A and B (like red cover), and also 3 prefaces: 1952, 1934, 1924, and also an intro by Robbins 1934. This edition is large, printed on 8.5 x 11 inch paper. This would have been a good edition had it made use of the large pages to print the text in two columns. I just wish someone would take the time to print this text with all its prefaces, chapters, appendices etc in a reasonable font and layout with a decent TOC and with a proper informative footer.So, the text gets 5 stars for being a landmark, but I'm knocking off two stars because of the disarray.

Secrets of the Temple how the Federal Reserve runs the country-William Greider. A monetary History of the United States-Milton Friedman, and of course this book. Although each of these books has a different philosophy, each of them is meticulously written and well thought out. What makes this book different, is Ludwig is a strict gold standard advocate. In the case of fiat money vs gold, Ludwig would argue, that with Fiat money, which loses its value, those savers will demand a higher rate of interest, or will simply spend more of their money on anything of value. When inflation was 15% to 20% in the 1970s, and the interest rate was 5%, people spent their money on anything that would last, making inflation worse.He also carries forth a very strong argument for a gold standard in the era of 1873 to 1890. This was when the farmers were losing their land to the strictness of the gold standard. According to William Greider in his previously mentioned book, no new gold was discovered in this era, which made it very difficult on the farmers, they wanted to be able to pay their debt in silver at a fixed price. Ludwig argues that a fixed price for silver cannot work, only a market price can work. If an ounce of gold is worth 30 of silver, and the government fixes it at 15.5, people will pay their debt with one, the cheapest way to pay their debt and accumulate the other. Jon Kosmoski, the pioneer of custom painting for motocycles and autos. His name just says the phrase "House of Kolor."This book is well written. The content is well related to custom painting a motorcycle and a truck. You need to be very creative to do this type of custom painting. This book definately helped me do my custom paint job. I would recommend this book to anyone, but then again, like I have said earlier, do not rely only on this one book as your sole source for custom paint jobs.

Sy Montgomery is a naturalist, author, documentary scriptwriter, and radio commentator who writes for children as well as adults. This is a kind, funny and gentle book - often poignant and sometimes sad - about the life of a pig. He started as the runt of all runts, adopted by a the author and her husband and not expected to live, who grew to become a 700 pound lovable boar who lived 14 years and touched the lives of all who knew him.While we often come across books about people and their relationships with dogs and horses, rarely do we read about the lives and personalities of animals we usually raise for food, creatures to perhaps marvel at while at county fairs, but to whom we give little thought.True, this is a book about a pig, but a very special one. It is also about the things most precious to us - family, friends and the simple joys of life - as seen through the eyes of one of God's special creatures.

Pigs are marvelous creatures; smart, loyal, mischievous and charming and I've loved pigs from my youth. Growing up on farms and ranches, pigs were almost family members - especially the Yorkshire we called "Arnold". He was as much a part of our big family as was our Border Collie Nomad. In my 40's, I even owned a miniature Pot-Bellied pig for a short time - until my spouse objected to it sleeping at the foot of our waterbed. My affection for swine prompted me to buy and read this book and I was not disappointed. Mrs. Montgomery has written a book every bit as charming as Christopher himself and did so without anthropomorphizing him - something I would never be able to avoid had I written the book. Of course, having had pigs and knowing what delightful critters they can be only made me appreciate Mrs. Montgomery's narrative all the more. It really is, without being mawkish, a brilliant work with all the cheesey accolades - heartwarming, endearing, delightful - to describe it. It was, in short, a fun and...well, 'heartwarming' biography of a remarkable porcine pal. If you love animals I definitely recommend this book to you. You won't be disappointed.

The Good Good Pig is everything you want in a book - an interesting, well-told (true) story with heartfelt dialog and laugh-out-loud humor. Especially laugh-out-loud humor. It is rare for me to find a book I enjoy enough to give as a gift, but this is one of them. Sy Montgomery I'm thrilled you wrote this book. You should be very proud of your accomplishment.

This was a gift to a young man who loves farm animals. I own and have read it several times and I have bought as a gift at least three times. When I finished this book, I stopped eating pork or pork products. Every time I looked at a pork chop, all I could think of was eating "Christopher Hogworth." Sy Montgomery is a naturalist who travels all over the world and writes books about wild animals geared to adults and to children. She is a brilliant writer and scientist. All of her books are outstanding. I believe this is the only book she's written about a domestic animal and it is a joy to read. Christopher was a dearly loved, sweet pig. He had many wonderful years with Ms. Montgomery, her family and friends. You can't go wrong with any of her books and I think this is the best one.

Absolutely marvelous! I've bought 3 or 4 copies of this wonderful book - to send to grandchildren that live out of the US, and to give to another one that belongs to a book club. I'd heard that pigs rate the highest on the intelligence scale for domesticated animals - this book proves it!Chris affected me like he affected other readers - I cannot eat pork. In fact, I can't go into the "meat department" in the super-market at all.Chris is a friendly fellow, who endears himself to his owners, neighbors, and to children as he goes on his walk-abouts. And his owners treat him like a king! (He has a Pig Spa). If you want to feel good - and happy - read the Good, good pig! Great book for all ages, "Old" and young will love it!

In reading this book, I fell in love with Christopher Hogwood and pigs in general. The author is able to paint a brilliant picture using words leaving me thoroughly entertained. I gleaned information about pigs that I would never have imagined! Pigs are beautiful, intelligent, complex and loving creatures, who knew? I'm a school teacher with a goal to teach my students to love our planet and its creatures. Books, such as this one, helps achieve that goal. I loved this book and look forward to reading other titles by this author.

This book will warm your heart and make you laugh out loud. You'll again feel the pull you felt as a child to just enjoy....the warm days, food, company and life in general, just like this wonderful pig did. He brings you back to simpler days of pure joy. Delightful book for anyone who cares anything about animals.

This is a beautiful story. I donâ€™t have enough words to describe all the feelings this book will bring you. Pigs are more humans than humans itself. Itâ€™s incredible to see all the joy an animal can bring to peopleâ€™s lives but only if we let them too. Most of pigs die but we think they are food and they were made for it I think when you read this book you feel very different about the world you grown up in

The joy of reading an authors experiences that bond her to non humans makes me know I'm not crazy. Although my heart was thrown into the usual abyss of sadness when CH passed, the sweetness that he was like ved so genuinely, and was in his safe loving home, makes me happy. I feel non human love, not so much the human kind. Or maybe it's just deeper. Thank you SM, YOU VALIDATE EVERYTHING ABOUT MY LIFE.
